Peron *Pg*E*

Highest Scoring US Olympics Dressage horse...

Peron was approved in 1986 at Neumünster and was imported to Canada by Guenter Bertelmann where he stood at Ahrensberg Trakehner Horse Farms until 1988.   He moved to Wonderland Farms in Pennsylvania for the 1988 breeding season.

In 1989 he moved to Georgia and remained at stud for owner Carol Meyer-Webster through 1993.  He was not actively bred for a few years to concentrate on training and competition in Germany.  While in Germany he and his American rider Michelle Gibson were trained by Rudolf Zeilinger and enjoyed considerable success on the international dressage circuit.

He returned to the U.S. for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, GA where he helped secure a Team Dressage Bronze Medal and placed 5th individually.  Peron *Pg*E* distinguished himself in the Olympics with the highest scores ever by an American Horse (72.20% in the team Grand Prix and a 75.20% Grand Prix and 74.28% Grand Prix Special individually).

After the Olympics, he was returned to active stud duty, however in 1998 he returned to Germany where he competed successfully under rider Ann Kathrin Ehlen, a student of Zeilinger.  Sometime in 1998 Meyer-Webster sold the stallion to Hermann Trosscher who briefly retired Peron from competition as he intended to use him solely for breeding.  In 1999 he was re-introduced to competition and was doing very well with a new rider when he sadly died suddenly at a show, of an allergic reaction to an antibiotic injection.
